Specifications

Garden wall composite panels have a polystyrene core with a fibre cement outer skin. These are then framed in a unique post system. The post system holds the panels in a rigid position whilst still allowing room for expansion and ground movement internally within the post. When erected the wall displays amazing brick like strength. All the panels are internally recessed to accept wiring for a number of different services. Lighting, sound, security etc...

It is available with or without top wall capping (Standard wall is supplied with a flush wall capping).

Each standard panel has an effective coverage of 2.5 or 2.8 meters, including one post.

The contemporary wall is the most cost effective of the 3 styles.

Traditional Wall
Traditional walls have an overall panel thickness of 75mm and a 120mm top wall capping. Posts measure 250 x 150 mm. (designed around a rendered brick width)

It is available with or without top wall capping (Standard wall is supplied with a flush wall capping).

Each standard panel has an effective coverage of 2.6, 2.9 or 3.2 meters, including one post.

The Traditional wall is most commonly used were a true rendered brick wall look is desired.

PANELS

·         Wall panels are a fibre cement/polystyrene composite sandwich panel.

·         An average panel weight is 30kg

·         The panels are easily cut with a circular saw to follow an uneven ground level or to suit an exact dimension.

-Example:

An 1800 wall consists of 2 x 900mm panels in a stack configuration and joined with internal aligning biscuits. If a render is to be applied the joint is set and rendered over.

All the above procedures can be viewed on the ‘Garden Walls’ instructional DVD

WIND REGIONS

This information is suitable for use in wind regions A, B and C of AS 1170.2-2002 SAA Loading Code. If you have any doubt about the region your wall will be in, get advice from your local building consent authority.

Determine Your Terrain Category

Select the terrain category that best describes the area in which your wall will be. If you want to build on the top of a hill, adjacent to an escarpment, on a ridge, or in terrain category 1, you will need engineering advice beyond the scope of this publication.

Category 2: Open terrain including sea coast areas, airfields, grassland with a few well-scattered obstructions such as isolated trees and uncut grass, having heights generally from 1.5m to 10m and water surfaces. Typically acreage-suburbia with less than 10 houses per hectare.

Category 2.5: Terrain with a few trees, isolated obstructions (e.g. agricultural land, canefields or long grass to 0.6 m). This category is typical of developing outer urban areas. Less than 10 houses per hectare; or more than 10 houses per hectare, 500m apart and in 2 rows.

Category 3: Terrain with numerous closely spaced obstructions the size of domestic houses 3 to 5m high. Typically residential-suburbia with 10 or more houses per hectare.

PRODUCT LIMITATIONS

The ‘Garden wall’ is not recommended for use as a retaining wall or anything that will cause the wall to permeantly retain moisture. Where a panel is in contact with the ground, provide a waterproof membrane to this section plus 100mm above the finished ground level.
