Jaco De Klerk - North Perth

My name is Jaco and a bought a franchise about 3 years ago. While quitting my full time job when we had a mortgage to pay was a big risk; and a little scary to say the least; I'm proud to say that it has paid off in dividends & is definitely the best career move that I have ever made.

 

I love being my own boss and the flexibility that it offers. Also, the support that we get from not only our franchisor but from other Jimmies guys is great. Swapping ideas and knowing how they run their business's has been very helpful, especially for a novice business owner like myself.

Initially myself and a mate wanted to start a fencing business ourselves from scratch but (fortunately) that never took off. Had I taken that path, I never would have got the training or support that Jim's Fencing offers (especially the computer based/ admin stuff that I really wasn't feeling confident about in the beginning).

While it was hard at the start, overall I've found the Jims experience to be a very positive one.

As a receiving co-coordinator at Big W, Southern Distribution Centre, I was working long hours and not personally achieving goals working for somebody else. I always knew if I could work for myself I would be successful. I knew there was something out there for me!

While visiting a friend who purchased a Jim’s Trees franchise, he mentioned that fencing was the franchise to be involved in and was growing at a very fast pace. I immediately knew this is what I wanted to do and having had farm fencing and general building experience and knew I could do the work.

As a result my wife and I immediately investigated which area’s were available and were lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time. We purchased a new region, Jim’s Fencing Mount Barker which was growing rapidly, however getting started and getting the Jim’s Fencing profile out there has taken some time. Through hard work, excellent customer service and determination we have managed to expand our business with growth, employing two workers and purchasing some much required machinery such as a Kanga for doing the tough work such as digging holes!

My high referrals have come from happy customers who have spread the word about the high standard, workmanship and pricing I offer. I am passionate about fencing and always provide the customer better ways and options of the building the most quality built fence that will stand the test of time.

My new goals are to become Regional Trainer/Franchisor and expand my knowledge and experience to others who wish to also become successful and live the life they have always dreamed of.
